ETOHI: FAQ

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions to help you make an informed decision when planning a Hawai’i trip or vacation to O’ahu.

All our islands are unique and special. Depending on your objective it is best to research all the things you want to do and see, then search which island affords you all those experiences. Our island of Oahu tends to have more things to do and places to go with more ease of access.

Oahu is like any major city with good and bad. The good far out weighs the bad in all our cities.

Waikiki is the most convenient location for all visitors who want easy access to beaches, dining, shopping and transportation anytime of the day or night.

Unfortunately there are locals “non-Hawaiian and not of these islands” and Natives (Hawaiian people of these islands)” who are hypocritical and who do not, especially foreigners who are disrespectful or act entitled.

Here is the literal definition defined by our Hawaiian Dictionary wehewehe.org.

Any place within your budget, access to a car and parking, along with your primary objective should be the ultimate factors in your decision.

You should find it much more enjoyable with a much better overall and customizable personal experience.

We find this question to be subjective and based on the value you put on a personalized, private and custom experience. Caveat Emptor!

Booking our services through TripAdvisor/Viator or any other online travel agency affords you the same quality of service as booking directly with ETOHI. The only difference is booking direct will get you an all-inclusive package if no discounts are applied. Also, when trying to communicate with us, there will often be a delay since all communication must first go through your booking agencies system before it is re-routed and transferred to us.

We will also get less then the amount you paid as a benefit for having our products listed on the world’s largest online marketplace for tours, activities and attractions.

Great question! A rental vehicle could be a great alternative to a private tour. If you do decide to rent a vehicle, we highly recommend Turo while continuing to support local.

Some things to consider when deciding to rent a vehicle…

  1. Do you really need a vehicle on O’ahu?
  2. All the cost associated with a rental car.
    • Cost to get to the rental vehicle:
      • Lyft $__________/trip
      • Uber $__________/trip
      • Taxi $__________/trip
    • Cost to rent the vehicle:
      • Rental vehicle $__________/day
      • Rental insurance $__________/day
      • Underage insurance $__________/day
      • Additional fees $__________/day
    • Cost to park the vehicle:
      • Hotel parking rate $__________/day
      • Valet parking rate $__________/day
    • Cost to use the vehicle:
      • Gas $__________/day
      • Time spent looking for parking__________/hr
    • Cost to Return the vehicle:
      • Car wash $__________
      • Car vacuum $__________
      • Gas refill $__________
    • Total Cost of Rental Car $__________

We highly suggest that you do not park on the Ala Wai!

Best bet would be to just park in your hotel parking!

Please Note:

On Maui, Kauai and Hawaii (Big Island) we highly recommend you get a rental car from Turo for general transportation and convenience. You can still take a private tour and enhance your island vacation.

Uber, Lyft and Taxi’s are a great option to quickly move around town and from Waikiki to anywhere on the island. You may have a little difficulty returning from the country back to Waikiki for various reasons ranging from time of day, traffic conditions and driver cancellations.

Base price from Waikiki to the North Shore or East and West sides of the island could range from $75.00 – $150.00.

Chinatown is a safe & popular destination. Residents, business owners and local organizations, often work together to promote a welcoming atmosphere where visitors from around the world can enjoy its historical significance, bustling markets, authentic shops, bars and eateries.
